Structural Engineering

Safe, efficient, buildable structures, from steel frames and extensions to alterations of existing buildings.

The right structural solution is the one that's safe, economical and straightforward to build. We design and deliver steel and concrete structures, extensions and alterations, working closely with architects and our own construction teams.

Doing the design and the build under one roof removes the gaps where problems usually hide.

Cornerstone Group's chartered structural engineers work with property developers, architects, contractors and asset managers across the UK, delivering structural design, assessment and compliance services.

FAQs

Structural engineering questions answered.

Can't see your question here? Our team is happy to talk it through.

What structural work do you design and build?

We design and deliver steel frames, reinforced concrete structures, extensions and new bays, and structural alterations and openings. Our design work covers steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry for both new build and refurbishment.

Can you assess an existing building, including for RAAC?

Yes. We carry out condition surveys and appraisals, load capacity and serviceability assessments, RAAC assessment and advice, and structural monitoring. Where we find defects, we can diagnose the cause, specify repairs and inspect and sign off the finished work.

Can you help with Building Safety Act requirements?

Yes. For higher-risk buildings of 18m and above, we prepare Building Safety Cases, Gateway 2 and 3 submissions and Competent Person documentation.

Do you provide independent design reviews?

Yes. We carry out independent design reviews, calculation checks, peer reviews and design audit reports for insurers or lenders.

What qualifications do your structural engineers hold?

Our engineers are chartered and hold MIStructE, MICE and CEng credentials. They work closely with your architects and consider sustainability from the start, for example by keeping existing frames, using less steel and choosing lower-carbon materials.
