Commercial EV Charging

Workplace and fleet EV charging, installed with grid capacity and future demand in mind.

Electrifying a fleet or offering workplace charging is fast becoming essential. We install commercial EV charging designed around your grid capacity today and your likely demand tomorrow.

Link it to on-site solar and storage and much of that charging can run on power you generate yourself.

Cornerstone Group plans and installs commercial EV charging stations across the UK, fully managing every stage from initial site survey to commissioning and handover, including DNO connections, solar integration and load management.

What commercial EV charging delivers

What commercial EV charging delivers

Additional revenue from paid charging sessions; increased footfall and dwell time (listed on networks like Zap-Map); stronger sustainability and ESG credentials; improved property value and rents; fleet cost reduction, especially charging from your own solar; and brand visibility through branded charge points.

Types of commercial EV charger

Types of commercial EV charger

  • Standard (AC): 3.7–7 kW, 6–12 hr charge; best for workplaces and overnight charging.
  • Fast (AC): 11–22 kW, 2–4 hr charge; suited to offices and retail car parks.
  • Rapid (DC): 20–60 min charge; for fleet depots, service stations and high-footfall car parks.
  • Ultra-rapid (DC): 10–20 min charge; for large fleet depots (needs a dedicated transformer).

Solar integration and battery storage

Combining chargers with solar carports and battery storage lets you power vehicles from your own electricity, reduce cost per kWh, store surplus for later and sell excess back to the grid via the Smart Export Guarantee. Load-management software prevents overloading and balances power across chargers.

Installation process

Site survey and load assessment; DNO application and grid connection; system design and permitting; installation to BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations); and commissioning, certification and handover, with support for OZEV grant funding.

Costs and government grants

Costs depend on charger number and type, site conditions and any DNO, solar or battery work. Grants include the Workplace Charging Scheme (up to £350 per socket, to 2027) and the EV Infrastructure Grant for rapid and higher-powered charge points.

Sectors

Offices and business parks, retail and supermarkets, warehouses and logistics, hotels, leisure and hospitality, public and private car parks, industrial and manufacturing, healthcare and education.

FAQs

EV charging questions answered.

Can't see your question here? Our team is happy to talk it through.

Which type of EV charger is right for our site?

Standard AC chargers (3.7 to 7 kW) suit workplaces and overnight charging, fast AC chargers (11 to 22 kW) suit offices and retail car parks, and rapid or ultra-rapid DC chargers suit fleet depots and high-footfall sites. We assess your site and usage to recommend the right mix.

Will adding chargers overload our electrical supply?

We design around your grid capacity today and your likely demand tomorrow, and handle the DNO application and grid connection. Load-management software prevents overloading and balances power across chargers.

Are there grants available for workplace charging?

Government grants for workplace and business charge points are often available, and we support you with OZEV grant funding as part of the installation. We'll check which schemes your site currently qualifies for when we quote.

Can we charge our vehicles from our own solar?

Yes. Linking chargers to on-site solar, solar carports and battery storage means much of your charging can run on power you generate yourself, reducing your cost per kWh.

Can we charge drivers to use our charge points?

Yes. We set up the backend and billing, so paid charging sessions can become an additional revenue stream, and charge points can be listed on networks like Zap-Map to increase footfall.

Let's talk about your next project.
