Decarbonisation For Businesses
Cut your carbon emissions, cut your energy costs and move towards your net zero transition with renewable energy sources like solar, battery storage and EV charging built around how your site actually runs.
You’ve seen energy prices spike twice in the last four years and watched unit prices rise and fall unpredictably. Along with the financial risks of this volatility, the UK government has a legally binding net zero target for 2050 with strict regulatory pressures to reduce carbon emissions.
By reducing your dependency on the grid sooner rather than later, you can lock in lower running costs for your energy, become less vulnerable to market changes and create a new revenue source from your own energy production.
Don’t keep paying more for energy, wait too long to try and meet regulatory requirements and start seeing the benefits of decarbonisation in your business.
Our decarbonisation consultancy starts with one question. How is your site using energy now? By understanding your energy situation we can design a bespoke generation, storage and consumption plan that cuts your reliance on the grid and reduces your emissions – moving you closer to net zero – in one go.
We build our net zero and decarbonisation strategies around solar PV, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure and ongoing maintenance. Everything is delivered by a team of qualified solar specialists and electricians, backed by the wider Cornerstone Group, so if your project also needs roofing work, civil engineering or quality assurance, we can handle everything end-to-end.
A new solar installation typically pays back in two to four years through reduced grid consumption, then continues to generate value for the rest of its operational life. At Cornerstone Energy we can structure your project costs into a single financial package, including associated works like a new commercial roof to fit your panels. The monthly costs of your package is offset from day one by your monthly energy cost savings.
By structuring your costs in this way your business can decarbonise and move towards net zero, upgrade ageing infrastructure and start saving from day one.
We can walk through your projected costs and payback time during your initial assessment.
Cornerstone Energy delivers projects across a range of sectors. How we structure your technology and configure your system depends on how your site uses energy.
Every project starts with your actual load profile. We size your system to what your business needs.
Installation is handled by fully trained, fully qualified solar specialists and electricians, we don’t subcontract.
Cornerstone Energy is supported by the wider Cornerstone Group. If your project needs additional contracting services we can handle everything so you don’t need to manage multiple contractors.
We specify and install systems that comply with RC62 fire safety guidance, using technology platforms recognised as among the safest on the market.
Solar panels and infrastructure works on decarbonising your business for between 20 to 25 years when properly installed and maintained. We design, install and maintain your system to the highest standards so it works for your in the long-run.
What does decarbonisation mean?
Decarbonisation is about reducing the carbon emissions your business or organisation generates day-to-day. For most commercial sites, the largest source is the electricity you use. Generating your own clean power, storing it and using it efficiently is the most direct way to reduce your emissions.
Do we need a net zero strategy before we install solar?
No. Some customers come to us with a full plan to achieve net zero and need help delivering it with better energy generation and savings. Others come to us because they want to cut their energy costs or reduce their carbon footprint. Every solution delivered by Cornerstone Group delivers both.
How long does the initial assessment take?
If you have your half-hourly energy consumption data, we can usually complete the initial assessment within a week. If we need to install CT clamp meters to monitor your load this can take around three to four weeks with another week to analyse your data and design the system.
What if we rent our premises?
If you have a landlord it doesn’t necessarily prevent you getting solar installed. In some cases your landlord will fund the installation and sell the renewable energy to you as a tenant at a lower rate. If you have a longer lease you may be able to fund the project yourself. Whatever your situation we can find the best solution during your initial consultation.
Will installing solar damage our roof?
If your energy efficient equipment is installed properly no. We assess every roof for structural suitability before installing. If the existing roof needs work, our wider Cornerstone Group carries out the roofing element as part of the same project with the cost folded into the same finance package as your solar installation.
