Former Mill Re-Roof

Replacing a slipping slate roof on a brick mill with insulated plastisol coated steel, new rooflights and seamless gutter liners.

Former mill building re-roofed in grey plastisol coated steel

The problem

A traditional brick mill had a slate roof that was slipping in many places, because the old nails had corroded. Earlier repairs with slate tabs had not solved it, and failing gutters were letting water into the building.

The solution

We stripped the slates, battens and felt and disposed of them safely, then laid fibre quilt insulation over the sarking boards. New treated battens carry a 0.7 mm plastisol coated steel roof with matching trims, ridges and flashings. Non-fragile GRP rooflights bring in daylight, and seamless thermoplastic liners now line the gutters.

The result

A dry, warmer building with a low-maintenance metal roof that suits its industrial character.
